★ New walls, finished like our repairs
Drywall Installation & Finishing in Columbia, MO.
Finishing a basement, closing in a garage, adding a closet or fixing a remodel someone walked away from? We hang, tape and finish new drywall — smooth or textured — across Columbia and Boone County. We'll also finish board you hung yourself.
Drywall Installation & Finishing in Columbia, MO — done so well you can't find the repair
Most of what we do is repair, but the same skills make new drywall look right: tight seams, screws set correctly, corner bead straight, three coats feathered wide and a consistent finish. Columbia has thousands of unfinished basements, and finishing one is the most common installation job we take — along with garages, closets, bonus rooms, small additions and remodels where the framing is done and the drywall is the next step.
Our scope is drywall only: hanging, taping, mudding, sanding, texture and priming. We don't do framing, electrical, plumbing or insulation, which keeps our pricing honest and lets us focus on the finish. If you're a homeowner who hung the board yourself and hit the wall at taping — the hard part — we finish DIY-hung drywall all the time.

What we fix
Installation Work We Take
Residential, drywall-only scope:
-
Basement finishing
Walls and ceilings in a framed basement, including moisture-resistant board where it makes sense and access panels where you need them.
-
Garages and workshops
Hanging and finishing garage walls and ceilings, including fire-rated board where the garage meets the house.
-
Closets, bonus rooms and small additions
Any framed space that needs walls — hung, taped and finished to match the rest of the house.
-
Remodel drywall
Kitchens and bathrooms after a remodel, moved walls, closed-up doorways and new openings blended into existing walls.
-
Finishing DIY-hung drywall
You hung it, we tape, mud, sand, texture and prime it. The most common way homeowners save money on a basement.
-
Ceiling replacement
Whole ceilings replaced after water damage or a failed popcorn removal attempt.
We're glad to quote drywall for a project where a general contractor or handyman is handling the rest — many Columbia contractors sub their drywall out because the finish is what the homeowner sees.
Our process
How We Install and Finish Drywall
The finish standard is the same one we use on invisible repairs:
- 01
Hang
Board is laid out to minimize seams, fastened with screws on the proper spacing, and corner bead set straight. Moisture- or fire-rated board where the room calls for it.
- 02
Tape and three coats
Paper tape on all seams and inside corners, then three coats of compound feathered wide, each dried before the next. Screws get three coats too.
- 03
Sand, texture, prime
Sanded under a raking light, then smooth or textured to match the rest of the house (knockdown or orange peel are most common in Columbia), and primed so it is ready for paint.
Pricing
What Drywall Installation Costs in Columbia, MO
Installation and finishing are quoted on-site by the square footage of board, the ceiling height, the finish level and access. A typical basement or garage is one flat price for the whole job, materials included. Finishing-only on drywall you hung yourself is priced the same way, minus the board.
Quotes are free. We will tell you up front if a room needs work outside our scope (framing, insulation, electrical) before drywall can go up.
FAQ
Drywall Installation & Finishing: common questions
Do you finish drywall that I hung myself?
Yes, often. Taping and finishing is the hard part and the part that shows. Have the board hung and fastened and we will take it from there.
Do you do framing, insulation or electrical for a basement?
No — drywall only. That keeps our pricing honest. We can recommend local framers and electricians we work alongside.
How is drywall installation priced?
By the square footage of board, ceiling height, finish level and access, quoted as one flat number for the job after a free on-site look. Materials are included unless you prefer to supply them.
What finish level do you use?
Level 4 (three coats, ready for texture or flat paint) is standard; Level 5 skim coat for smooth walls with glossy paint or strong side lighting. We will recommend the right one for the room.
